OverviewThis fall, the Center for the History of Collecting at the Frick Art Reference Library teams up with Christie’s Education to offer programming for new collectors and those considering forming an art collection.
The series begins at The Frick Collection on October 23 from 5.30 – 7.00pm when the Center for the History of Collecting will present Entering the Art Market: Collectors and their Passions, a panel moderated by Nanne Dekking, founder and CEO of Artory, and chairman of TEFAF. Mr. Dekking will interview collectors Bernard Lumpkin and Ann Tenenbaum, who will discuss how they became interested in collecting, some of their earliest purchases, and tips for new collectors.
The series continues on November 6 at Christie’s from 10.00am to 12.00pm when Christie’s Education will facilitate previews of the upcoming Impressionist & Modern Art and Post-War & Contemporary Art sales with department specialists. Led by Allegra Bettini (Associate Specialist, Head of Works on Paper, Impressionist & Modern Art Department) and Stephen Jones (Associate Vice President, Senior Writer, Post-War & Contemporary Art Department), these two private tours are a great opportunity to engage directly with a wide range of art and to increase understanding of current collecting trends.
These events are free, but online registration is required. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up here for the October 23 panel at The Frick Collection. Online registration includes museum admission after 5.30pm. Sign up here for Christie’s Education’s November 6 sales preview (10am – 12pm) with specialists.
